      FAQs about eSIMs

      What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a SIM card directly integrated into your device by the manufacturer. It does not need to be inserted into your smartphone and can be programmed remotely. The operation of the eSIM is identical to a physical SIM card. Only the installation of the user profile and the activation is slightly different.
Which smartphones are eSIM compatible ?

The list is constantly updated as more eSIM-compatible devices get released into the market.

Please ensure that your device is eSIM-compatible and carrier unlocked before purchasing. Note that country and carrier-specific restrictions may apply and that this list may not be complete.

Call *#06# (USSD Code - free of charge) to confirm if your device has an EID number. Devices with an EID number are eSIM-compatible. If you have an MEID number, please contact our support first before placing an order.

How do I activate my eSIM?
Once you have purchased your Travel eSIM, you need to scan your QR code on your compatible phone. The activation of the eSIM takes place immediately after the activation request if you are at one of the covered destinations.

      iPhone:
      • In "Settings" select "Cellular Data".
      • Select "Add a cellular package".
      • Scan the QR code and register the eSIM.

Please see the following guide for a more detailed explanation.

      Android:
      • Go to "Settings" and then select "Connections".
      • Select "SIM card manager".
      • Select "Add a Mobile plan", then "Add via QR Code".
      • Scan the QR Code and register the eSIM.
      • Select "OK" at the end of the profile download.

Please see the following guide for a more detailed explanation.

Once your profile is downloaded to your phone, you will be able to access the O2 mobile network.

Please remember to enable data roaming for your eSIM to get the full benefits within all covered countries.
How does the activation process work?
You buy the eSIM on the website and you will receive your QR Code by email.

Upon receipt of the email, you can download your eSIM profile to your phone by scanning the QR Code anywhere in the world. You will need to be connected to an internet network (WIFI or cellular). Your eSIM is ready.

When you arrive in Europe or if you are already in Europe, you just have to select it as your main SIM Card.
      Is the activation immediate?
Yes, your eSIM is activated immediately if you are in Europe. If you are abroad, your eSIM will be activated when you arrive in Europe.

You can therefore load and scan your QR code from anywhere in the world well before your arrival in Europe without your offer starting.
My eSIM is blocked. How do I get my PUK code?
The eSIM works in the same way as a SIM card. You can find the PUK code in the email provided at the time of subscription.
What happens if my phone is stolen?
Similar to a physical SIM Card, you have to replace it with a new one.
Can I delete my eSIM and download it again for another time?
You can only download your eSIM once. Please note you won’t be able to download it again if you delete it.
I have deleted my eSIM by mistake, what can I do?
Once you have deleted your eSIM from your phone, you won’t be able to download it again.
Is there always a PIN code and a PUK code?
The PIN code is 0000. The eSIM works in the same way as the physical SIM: it has a PIN code and a specific PUK code in case the PIN code is blocked.
What if I want to continue using my foreign number while in Europe?
You can continue to use your foreign number and offer freely while having the AIS eSIM2FLY.

You will still be reachable, however your operator may charge you roaming fees for your calls, SMS and DATA usage.
Can I use the eSIM for the local data plan while still receiving calls on my SIM Card (or vice versa)
Yes, you can if your phone supports Dual SIM functionality!

Dual SIM allows you to have two active (e)SIM Cards and you choose which one should use cellular data and can send/receive messages. You will still be reachable however your operator may charge you roaming fees for your calls, SMS and DATA usage.

      iPhone:*
      • Setting > Cellular > Tap "Default Voice Line" > Choose your primary SIM Card for Calls
      • Setting > Cellular > Tap "Cellular Data" > Chose your primary SIM Card for Mobile Data
*The option is only available when both (e)SIM Cards are activated
      Android:
      • Settings > Network & Internet (Wireless & Networks) > Tap "SIM Cards" ("Dual SIM Setting") > You can select your primary SIM Card for either Calls or Data
I have a technical problem with my eSIM! Who can I contact?
You can contact the AIS customer service – available 24/7 everyday – and ask to speak to someone who speaks English.

You can also visit AIS's customer support page to get help via the live chat.
